KazNARU is actively developing cooperation with Trabzon University (Turkey).
On May 26, 2025, the Chairman of the Board – Rector of KazNARU, President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, academician Akhylbek Kurishbayev, met with the Rector of Trabzon University (Turkey), Professor Dr. Emin Ashikkutlu.
The purpose of the visit was to familiarize with KazNARU’s achievements, strengthen educational ties, enhance cooperation in the exchange of faculty members, students, master's and doctoral candidates, and develop joint scientific research collaborations.
The rector of KazNARU, Akhylbek Kurishbayev, emphasized that bilateral partnerships create the potential for significant international interaction between higher education institutions in Turkey and Kazakhstan, as well as for the implementation of joint efforts in the promotion of information technologies and digitalization.
“In recent years, our university has intensified international cooperation in higher education to establish and develop partnerships with universities in Europe, including Turkey. We are expanding collaboration in agricultural research, renewable energy, information technology, and other STEM-related fields. Therefore, we invite you to join in implementing joint educational programs and conducting scientific research in agriculture,” Akhylbek Kurishbayev highlighted.
In turn, Professor Dr. Emin Ashikkutlu also expressed interest in advancing academic cooperation, modernizing existing higher education programs, and fostering innovation in technology. He noted that Trabzon University was founded in 1967 and has a rich history. Since its establishment, it has held a significant place among Turkish universities and is a leader in graduate employability rates.
“Today, our university offers a wide range of disciplines: from engineering to social and medical sciences, from fine arts to business. International collaboration and student exchange programs are also an important part of our institution,” the distinguished guest emphasized.
During the meeting, the parties discussed three key areas of cooperation:
- Digitalization and automation using artificial intelligence – exchanging expertise and jointly developing innovative solutions for process automation in the agricultural sector;
- Collaboration in socio-economic research, including the development of agritourism and joint projects to promote sustainable agricultural practices;
- Scientific and technical partnerships aimed at conducting joint research and publishing results in leading international scientific journals.
This meeting was organized with active support from the Consulate General of Turkey in Almaty, which played a key role in coordinating dialogue between the two universities. A special contribution to the event's preparation was made by Ayhan Korkmaz, the education affairs attaché. The Turkish delegation included Professor Dr. Fatih Bektaş, Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences, and Professor Dr. Faik Özgür Karataş, Coordinator for International Relations and Head of the Department of STEAM Education.
Rector Akhylbek Kurishbayev received an invitation to visit Turkey to explore the latest research and developments at Trabzon University in agricultural technologies and artificial intelligence.
As part of the visit, the guests toured the International Water Center and scientific research laboratories. At the conclusion of the visit, they expressed gratitude to the university leadership for the constructive and productive meeting.
