Department of General Educational Disciplines

            The Department of “General Education Disciplines” of the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University was established in September 2023 as a result of the merger of three departments – "Kazakh and Russian Languages", "Foreign Languages" and "Social Disciplines".

          The mission of the department is a component of the university’s mission – “training competitive personnel through science and high-tech production.”

          The main objective of the department is to ensure a high level of teaching social and linguistic disciplines using modern educational technologies that meet international standards.

          The activity of the department is aimed at developing a scientific worldview, fostering an active lifestyle and developing the creative potential of future competitive specialists in the national economy.

          History of the department. At the origins of the Department of Languages (1929) was the outstanding figure of Kazakh culture, writer, scientist M.O. Auezov. Being an associate professor of the department, he made an invaluable contribution to its formation and development.

          The department of “Social Disciplines” was also created on the basis of one of the first departments of the university - “Marxism-Leninism” (1929) of the Kazakh Agricultural Institute and “Marxist-Leninist Philosophy and Scientific Communism” (1968) of the Almaty Zoo Veterinary Institute. As a result of the merger of the Kazakh Agricultural Institute and the Almaty Zoo Veterinary Institute into the Kazakh National Agrarian University (1996), various structural transformations took place, departments were renamed, but invariably and successfully teachers of social disciplines fulfilled their mission in providing high-quality humanitarian education for students. Such outstanding figures as Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan M.K.Kozybayev, corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan T.S.Sadykov and others carried out their activities at the department.

          Currently, 22 teachers work at the department, including 1 doctor of science, 9 candidates of science, 10 masters.

          The staff of the department are engaged in scientific research in various areas of scientific knowledge, take part in conferences and symposiums held by other universities, organizations and institutions on the problems of specialization of the department. The staff of the department are the authors of monographs, scientific publications, textbooks, scientific and methodological manuals.
