Info session World Food Forum Kazakhstan Youth Chapter
On November 5, 2025, the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University (KazNARU) and the Institute for Green and Sustainable Development held an information session on the topic “Youth Forum on Food Issues in Kazakhstan.” The workshop was attended by students from the Faculty of Engineering Technologies of KazNARU, the Higher School of Business and Law, universities from the regions of Kazakhstan, and others.
The World Food Forum (WFF) is a youth-led movement established by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to engage young people in shaping sustainable agri-food systems and addressing global challenges related to food security, climate change, and rural development.
Building on this mission, the Kazakhstan Youth Chapter is being established to provide a national platform for youth engagement, capacity building, and collaboration with universities, civil society, and UN agencies.
The objectives of the offline event are to:
Introduce the mission of the World Food Forum and the establishment of the Kazakhstan Youth Chapter, while fostering networking among students, universities, and youth organizations. It seeks to engage UN agencies and partners in dialogue, define the Chapter’s working structure, and generate ideas for future initiatives. Additionally, the event will review and refine the existing Concept Note to strengthen youth participation in advancing food security and sustainability.
Expected results of the offline event:
Participants will gain a clear understanding of the mission of the World Food Forum and the role of the Kazakhstan Youth Chapter. The meeting is expected to establish initial connections among youth leaders, universities, and partner organizations, define the Chapter’s preliminary working structure, and generate concrete ideas for future activities.
Furthermore, feedback collected during the discussion of the Concept Note will help refine the document and ensure stronger youth engagement in advancing food security and sustainable development.
