KazNARU LAUNCHES INITIATIVE TO REDUCE PLASTIC USE AND PROMOTE ENVIRONMENTAL CULTURE
February 12, 2026 — Almaty, Kazakhstan — Kazakh National Agrarian Research University has launched an environmental initiative aimed at reducing single-use plastics and implementing sustainable solutions in its educational and research activities.
As part of the program, the university is gradually phasing out single-use plastic products on campus, expanding its waste separation system, and introducing modern plastic recycling technologies. The initiative is implemented in line with the principles of sustainable development and environmental responsibility.
Special attention is being given to research on plastic waste recycling, development of biodegradable materials, and introduction of innovative solutions in the agricultural sector. Scientists and students at Kazakh National Agrarian Research University are actively working on projects aimed at reducing environmental impact and promoting efficient use of natural resources.
Additionally, the university is launching an educational program to foster environmental awareness among students and staff. The program includes lectures, hands-on seminars, environmental campaigns, and collaboration with industrial enterprises on plastic recycling and reuse.
The initiative will form part of the university’s strategic program to implement “green campus” principles and strengthen scientific potential in environmental innovations.
