Today, the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University held a ceremony dedicated to September 1 – Knowledge Day for first-year students.
The festive event marking the beginning of the new academic year brought together the university leadership, vice-rectors, faculty deans, academic staff, students, and parents.
The ceremony began with the National Anthem of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Akhylbek Kurіshbayev, President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Chairman of the Board – Rector of the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University, congratulated the students on the beginning of the new academic year.
“Our university has always held a special place in providing high-quality education and fostering strong values. Since its establishment in 1929, more than 150,000 specialists have graduated from our university.
Thanks to the consistent and effective work of the university community in recent years, KazNARU entered the top 700 universities worldwide in the QS World University Rankings in 2026, ranking 6th in Central Asia and 5th among universities in Kazakhstan.
In the new academic year, nearly 1,400 recipients of state educational grants, more than 700 tuition-paying students, as well as 150 master’s and doctoral students enrolled at our university. More than 100 students were admitted to the Branch of the National Research University “Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers” (TIIAME). In addition, nearly 600 international students from countries near and far abroad joined the university.
We are particularly pleased with the strong academic profile of this year’s first-year students. Among you are prize-winners of international olympiads, 30 holders of the Altyn Belgi distinction, and 48 graduates with certificates of excellence. This figure has tripled compared with last year. We are also proud to welcome many talented and creative young people, professional athletes, and students who are proficient in several languages.
Today, KazNARU is evolving into an internationally recognized research university.
Our university has established close partnerships with more than 200 leading universities and research centers worldwide. Joint international laboratories have been established in the areas of digital water-saving management, agricultural drone research, and SMART technologies. Dual-degree programs in artificial intelligence are also being successfully implemented.
As part of our efforts to further develop the university as an internationally recognized research institution, the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan approved the KazNARU Development Program for 2026–2030 in August 2026. A total of KZT 27.2 billion has been allocated from the national budget for its implementation,” said A. Kuryshbayev.
Speaking on behalf of the first-year students were Zhanerke Isenbek, a graduate with a certificate of excellence from the Faculty of Agrobiology; Adilzhan Bektenov, an Altyn Belgi holder from the Higher School of Business and Law; Zhazira Kemelzhan, an Altyn Belgi holder from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology; and Nursana Kosym, an Altyn Belgi holder from the Faculty of Forestry and Land Resources. They extended their best wishes to their fellow students as they embarked on a new chapter of student life.
The ceremony continued with a festive concert program. The well-known Kazakhstani group Zaman took the stage and added a vibrant atmosphere to the celebration. The ONE dance group presented a captivating performance, while the Univers trio, formed by talented KazNARU students, delighted the audience with their songs. The festive program concluded with the performance of “Atameken.”
Knowledge Day is a special occasion that opens the door to new opportunities and ambitious goals. We congratulate all first-year students who have crossed the threshold of KazNARU for the first time and wish them outstanding academic achievements, great success, and a vibrant and fulfilling student life!
