MALAYSIAN STUDENTS UNDERTAKE PRACTICAL TRAINING AS PART OF KazNARU’S DUAL-DEGREE PROGRAMME
Students from Pahang University, Malaysia, who joined KazNARU through a dual-degree programme, are undertaking a practical placement at the Institute of Plant Biology and Biotechnology. The aspiring biotechnologists are conducting laboratory experiments and learning methods for studying biological materials and analysing research findings.
The placement runs from 19 October to 6 November 2026 at the institute, which operates under the Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The participants are fourth-year students enrolled in the 6B05102 Biotechnology programme. Their placement is supervised by Fatima Sagymbek, Senior Lecturer at KazNARU’s Department of Zooengineering and Biotechnology.
The students are exploring the research areas of the institute’s laboratories and learning the key stages of experimental work. From planning experiments to processing data and drawing conclusions, they are applying their theoretical knowledge to practical research tasks. Particular attention is paid to laboratory safety throughout the placement.
As part of the dual-degree programme, the placement complements the students’ international academic experience with hands-on work in Kazakhstan’s research environment. It offers them an opportunity to strengthen their professional skills and build a foundation for future research in biotechnology.
