Progress
The Kazakh-Japan Innovation Center (KJIC), as a structural subdivision of KazNARU, is one of the leading divisions of the University engaged in conducting modern scientific research, training highly qualified specialists and providing paid services.
The unique capabilities of the Research Center for ensuring scientific research at the international level are the availability of powerful and modern scientific equipment, accreditation for compliance with GOST ISO/IEC 17025-2019 "General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories", licenses for activities related to poisons, precursors and psychotropic substances.
In order to expand scientific research, the Research Institute is actively involved in republican competitions for conducting scientific research within the framework of grant and program-targeted funding.
The result of participation in the competition for the GF of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2021-2023 is the grant project IRN AP 09259192 "Human syndrome: studying the diversity of viral respiratory infections by NGS sequencing" (supervisor Professor Sandybaev N.T.) with a funding amount of 64.5 million tenge.
This project is fundamental, unique and at the same time complex. Currently, the studies planned in the project were carried out only abroad, in Kazakhstan such work is being carried out by us for the first time. Within the framework of the project, using NGS sequencing approaches, all available viruses present in the human upper respiratory tract will be sequenced.
An important result in the implementation of this project is the identification of not only already widely known, circulating viruses among the population of Almaty, as well as the detection of viruses rare or previously undetectable in Kazakhstan. The real picture of the presence of respiratory viruses in humans will be presented, which can become the basis for a successful and targeted fight against infectious diseases.
The employees of the KJIC are the executors of individual tasks for genetic research in two grant projects: 1) IRN AP09259609 "A new platform for intranasal SARS-CoV-2 vaccine based on nanoparticles: design development and testing on laboratory animal models" and 2) IRN AP09259636 "Study of the genetic resistance of promising apple varieties and rootstocks to a dangerous disease – bacterial Fire blight using SNP markers". According to the first project, research is being conducted to create genetic constructs for the expression of specific COVID-19 proteins suitable for the development of specific vaccines. According to the second project, the CAIC conducts research on the development of SNP markers for apple varieties and rootstocks that characterize the resistance of trees to bacterial burn.
In addition to grant projects, according to the results of the competition for program-targeted financing through the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2021-2023 on veterinary safety, the KJIC successfully implements the tasks of developing PCR-based test systems for the diagnosis of infectious diseases of horses. The practical result of this project is the creation of new diagnostic PCR kits designed to identify equine influenza, myta, rhodoccus equi and helicobacteriosis.
Conducting scientific research at a high methodological level, publishing scientific articles in international rating journals and international cooperation is the basis for the further development of the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University and its integration into the world community.
