Relevance
The relevance of research is the regulation of carbon content in the soil, its loss, depending on the improvement of elements of farming systems and management systems. These works are of particular importance due to the fact that most of the world's food is produced in temperate latitudes.
Changing land use regimes is the most important factor determining the intensity of soil CO2 fluxes
The poorly understood issue of carbon balance and soil gas exchange in Kazakhstan necessitates research in this area for the development of decarbonization technologies and ensuring carbon "neutrality" of soils in the agricultural sector.
Project objective
To develop regulation of the carbon balance of soils of agricultural landscapes with land intensification to ensure the reduction of soil degradation processes and ensure the development of decarbonization technologies in the agricultural sector in Northern Kazakhstan.
Expected and achieved results
1. To analyze the chemical, agrophysical and biological properties of the soil to assess soil fertility using various agricultural technologies.
2. To determine the reserves of total and organic carbon in the soil profile of agricultural landscapes to assess their biological productivity and the ecological safety of ecosystems.
3. Determine the reserves of the carbon and nitrogen fund of soils to assess their geochemical cycle, ensuring the stability of ecosystems of agricultural landscapes.
4. To study the carbon content of plant and microbial biomass during the growing season on soils and agricultural landscapes using various agricultural technologies.
5. To study the intensity and dynamics of carbon dioxide emissions in the soils of agricultural landscapes depending on abiotic factors (temperature, light, etc.) and agrotechnical techniques.
6. To study and assess the intensity of soil carbon accumulation and loss depending on the hydrothermal regime and agrotechnical techniques on agrolandscapes during land intensification.
7. Determine the relationship of crop productivity with the intensity of carbon accumulation in the soil and the release of carbon dioxide during land intensification, calculate the carbon balance of soils.
8. To develop ways to purposefully increase soil carbon reserves and assess the intensity of carbon dioxide emissions, ensuring effective management of soil fertility, increasing crop productivity, and ensuring carbon "neutrality" of soils in agricultural landscapes. To assess the economic efficiency of soils.
9. To develop regulation of the carbon balance of soils of agrolandscapes with land intensification, ensuring reduction of soil degradation and dehumification processes and ecological safety of ecosystems, as well as ensuring prospects for the development of soil decarbonization technologies in the agricultural sector of Northern Kazakhstan.
10. Develop recommendations for production on regulating the carbon balance of soils and the accumulation of organic carbon in the soil.
Information for potential users
The main idea of the project is to develop regulation of the carbon balance of soils in agrolandscapes during land intensification, study the dynamics of carbon reserves in soil during agricultural intensification, the impact of carbon dioxide losses in agrolandscapes, which will effectively manage the accumulation of carbon reserves and its losses, will help increase crop productivity and reduce soil degradation, as well as ensure the development of technologies decarbonization in the agricultural sector and carbon "neutrality" of soils, this will create ecological safety of ecosystems and agro-landscapes of Kazakhstan.
