Stages of formation of the Department of Pharmacology and Pathology of Animals
The Department of Pharmacology and Pathology of Animals is one of the oldest and most fundamental structures with its own history. The Department of Pharmacology and Pathology of Animals is one of the most fundamental and fundamental structures with its own history. 2024-2025 academic year тhis department was recently reorganized and combined such disciplines as "Pharmacology", "veterinary toxicology and toxicological analysis", "Pathological Anatomy", "pathological physiology".If you carefully study the history of the department, it was first opened in 1931 as the department of “Private pathology and therapy with a clinic of internal non-communicable diseases” as part of the Almaty Zooveterinary Institute. The first head and founder of the department was Professor L.A. Leibin. (1931-1937), and in subsequent years the department was headed by graduates of the institute: Honored Worker of the KazSSR, Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of the KazSSR, Professor Kleinbock Yu.I. (1937-1961), Candidates of Veterinary Sciences, Associate Professors Liebreich G.Ya. Tokbanov Sh.T.-2006), from 2006 to 01.01.2021 Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, Professor N.A. Zamanbekov, from 01.01.2021 to 01.05.2023, PhD, associate professor. Alikhanov K.D. From 05/01/2023 to the present, the department is headed by a graduate of the Almaty Zooveterinary Institute, Candidate of Veterinary Sciences, Professor E.M. Korabaev.
Over the years, in connection with the reorganization, the department included the former independent departments: “Non-communicable animal diseases”, “Clinical diagnostics with radiology”; "Pharmacology"; "Pathological physiology".
At different times, the following worked at the Department of Non-Contagious Animal Diseases: associate professors G.Kh. Gabidullin, S.M. Basov B.S. Shchetinin, I.S. Podlinnov, A.M. Utyanov, F.M. Kazaeva, A.K. Boguspayev M.Ch. Itenov.
Under the guidance of Professor Ya.I. Kleinbock studied diseases of the digestive and respiratory organs of farm animals, and proposed methods for their diagnosis and prevention. Some aspects of the pathogenesis of radiation sickness were experimentally studied, ways to increase nonspecific resistance in animals were developed, metabolic states were studied in calves and camels with bronchopneumonia. The department studied the nature of pasture poisoning of farm animals in the Balkhash-Alakul zone of the republic. As a result, its causes were established, and alkaloids were isolated from the poisonous plant and the effect of the plant’s toxic substances on the animal body was determined.
The former Department of Clinical Diagnostics with Radiology was organized by separating it from the Department of Private Pathology in 1936. The first head of the department was Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor N.R. Semushkin (1936-1940). Subsequently, the department was headed by Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Ya.M. Skornyakov, (1940-1960), Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor A.A. Sazonov (1960-1967), Doctor of History, Honored Worker of Higher School of the KazSSR, Professor E.F. Dymko (1967-1993) from 1993 to 1996. “Honorary Worker of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, Ph.D., Associate Professor A.N. Ermakhanov.

The research work of the department was carried out on the topic “Improving methods for early diagnosis, treatment and prevention of the respiratory system of young animals and metabolic disorders in animals.” Methods for early diagnosis of animal osteodystrophy and bronchopneumonia in young animals were developed. Under the guidance of Professor Dymko E.F. measurements of clinical-morphological, biochemical, X-ray echo-osteometric, electrocardiographic parameters were carried out in cows suffering from fluorosis in different zones of Kazakhstan and in young animals suffering from bronchopneumonia.
The former Department of Pharmacology was founded in 1930. The first head was I.D. Priselkov (1930-1933), later the department was headed by Associate Professor V.V. Chudinov (1934-1942), professor A.I. Burshtein (1942-1945), associate professor L.F. Abakumov (1945-1969). As part of the department, they worked as associate professors S.B. Khvalibova, S.A. Baratova, V.K. Isakova, N.A. Zamanbekov, B.D. Aitzhanov, Sh.A. Bektybaeva, N.K. Kobdikova, E.M. Korabaev, A.A. Bainiyazov. The scientific work of the Department of Pharmacology was carried out in two directions: 1. Study of the pharmacological properties of drugs obtained from plants; 2. Determination of the pharmacodynamics of chemical compounds obtained by targeted synthesis in various chemical laboratories. Research was carried out to study the pharmacological and toxicological properties of more than 20 medicinal and poisonous plants growing in Kazakhstan, and derivatives of chrysophonic acid were synthesized.
The former Department of Pathophysiology was founded in 1931. The organizers and first employees of the department were professors Amanzholov S.A. Orlov N.P.
