BIODIVERSITY OF THE ILE ALATAU: EDUCATIONAL SEMINAR WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF SCIENCE DAY
On April 7, 2026, the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University hosted a scientific and educational seminar titled “Biodiversity of the Ile Alatau” as part of the Science Day decade. The event was held at the Faculty of Forestry and Land Resources and focused on актуальные issues of ecology, environmental protection, and sustainable development.
The seminar brought together Director of the Science Department A.A. Sultanov, Dean of the Faculty D.N. Sarsekova, Head of the Department of Forest Resources, Hunting and Aquaculture A.A. Kopabayeva, as well as Head of the Scientific Research and Mountain Biodiversity Division of the Ile-Alatau State National Natural Park S.A. Userbayeva and other specialists. The event was organized by Head of the Department of Landscape Design and Greening I.K. Maisupova.
Students of the educational programs 6B08304 – “Landscape Design and Greening” and 6B08302 – “Forest Resources and Forestry” gained comprehensive knowledge about the biodiversity of flora and fauna of the Ile Alatau region, rare and endemic species listed in the Red Book, as well as issues of forest protection and restoration, landscape planning, and environmental monitoring.
During the seminar, participants examined anthropogenic impacts on the Ile Alatau ecosystem, including the effects of tourism, urbanization, and climate change. They also explored the principles of protected natural areas management, biodiversity conservation strategies, and international environmental initiatives.
As a result of the seminar, students developed competencies in ecological analysis, environmental planning, and sustainable natural resource management.
