KazNARU AWARDED GOLD HONOR FOR CONTRIBUTION TO EFFICIENT WATER RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
On August 20, 2026, the final event of the “Smart Water Zone” and “Smart Plastic Zone” projects was held in Astana, dedicated to the rational use of water resources and the promotion of ecological culture and SDGs.
The event was organized by the Green Urban Association with the support of Coca‑Cola, JSC “National Managing Holding Baiterek,” and the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Representatives from science, education, business, and government exchanged experiences in water‑saving technologies, digital solutions, and raising ecological awareness among the population.
During the event, the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University (KazNARU) presented initiatives implemented under the “Green Campus”, “Green Week”, and “Model UN” projects. The university consistently works on efficient water resource management, the development of digital monitoring, and the promotion of ecological literacy among youth.
As a result of the national competition, KazNARU was awarded the highest “gold” honor. This recognition highlights the university’s contribution to training highly qualified specialists, advancing scientific research in effective water management, sustainability, and promoting environmental education.
KazNARU Vice‑Rector for International Relations dr. Rafis Abazov emphasized the university’s systematic work in the field of water security and sustainable development:
“This award is a vivid testament to KazNARU’s ecological responsibility to society. We prioritize preparing a new generation of specialists equipped with modern water management standards and committed to advancing the principles of sustainable development,” noted Dr. Abazov.
KazNARU’s achievement demonstrates the results of the university’s consistent efforts in protecting water resources, implementing green technologies, and integrating sustainable development principles into education and research.
