LANGUAGE WEEK KICKS OFF AT KAZNARU!
On September 21, 2026, the Kazakh national agrarian research university (KazNARIU) held the opening ceremony for a week dedicated to the Day of Languages of the People of Kazakhstan, titled "Language – the Heart of the People, the Pillar of the Nation". The event was organized by the Department of Languages and the Department of Educational Work.
The purpose of Language Week is to promote the state language, encourage students to respect their native language and preserve it as a national heritage, as well as to contribute to the development of students’ sense of patriotism. As part of the week, a number of events are planned, including an essay competition on the topic “Толық адам – ХХІ ғасырдың азаматы // Толық адам – человек XXI века” (“The Integral Person – a Citizen of the 21st Century”); an expressive reading competition “Тіл – Абай, сөз және адамзат әлеміне апарар терезе // Язык – окно в мир: Абай, слово и человек” (“Language – a Window to the World: Abai, Words and Humanity”); and a guest lecture by G. Smagulova, Doctor of Philological Sciences and Professor at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, on “Peculiarities of Modern Speech Culture.”
Also as a part of the project “Кітап оқитын ұлт – Читающая нация” (“A Nation that Reads”) an information and awareness-raising event for students will be held in connection with the national reading marathon “Кітап оқитын ұлт – озық ұлт” (“A Nation that Reads is an Advanced Nation”).
Additionally, the programme includes the “Алтын қақпа” (“Golden Gate”) intellectual competition and the English Intellectual Speaking Competition “Speak to Win,” aimed at developing students’ speech culture; the “A Day in My University Life” video competition; the language and educational project “Абайдың «Толық адам» тұжырымы: тіл, таным және өзін-өзі дамыту // Abai’s Concept of the Integral Person: Language, Knowledge and Self-Development”; as well as the presentation of the “Қазақ тілі В2-1” teaching manual developed for students majoring in agricultural fields.
At the opening ceremony of Language Week, Gulmira Yegizbayevna Alpysbayeva, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the Kazakh national agrarian research university, candidate of veterinary sciences and associate professor, delivered a congratulatory speech. She emphasized the important role of the Day of Languages in the life of society.
The event was attended by Bauyrzhan Seisenbekuly Zhonkeshov, Head of the Department of Languages, faculty members of the department, and first-year students of the university.
As part of the event, quizzes dedicated to the language and history of the country were held. The winners, who demonstrated their knowledge and abilities, were presented with various gifts. The event concluded with the sounds of dombyra and musical performances, creating a festive atmosphere for everyone present.
