LANGUAGES WEEK LAUNCHED at KazNARU

On September 21, 2026, KazNARU held the opening ceremony of Languages Week under the theme “Language is the Heart of the People and the Pillar of the Nation,” marking the Day of Languages of the People of Kazakhstan.

Gulmira Alpysbayeva, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at KazNARU, delivered a welcome address, highlighting the important role of language in shaping national identity and shared social values.

The key objectives of the week are to promote the state language, foster greater respect among young people for their mother tongue, advance national values, and strengthen a sense of patriotism.

The programme includes the following activities:

• an essay competition titled “The Whole Person – A Citizen of the 21st Century”;

• an expressive reading competition titled “Language – A Window into the World of Abai, Words and Humanity”;

• a guest lecture on “Features of Contemporary Speech Culture”;

• a presentation of the national reading marathon “A Reading Nation – A Progressive Nation”;

• the “Altyn Qaqpa” intellectual competition;

• the “Speak to Win” intellectual competition;

• the “A Day in My University Life” video competition;

• the educational language project “Abai’s Concept of the ‘Whole Person’: Language, Knowledge and Self-Development”;

• a presentation of the “Kazakh Language B2-1” textbook designed for students pursuing agricultural programmes.

The event was attended by Bauyrzhan Seisenbekuly Zhonkeshev, Head of the Department of Languages, faculty members of the department, and first-year students.

The programme also featured quizzes on language and the history of Kazakhstan, with prizes awarded to the participants who achieved the best results. The event concluded with traditional kui performances and songs, creating a festive atmosphere.
