🥈 KazNARU STUDENT WINS SILVER AT THE WORLD SAMBO CHAMPIONSHIPS
From October 2 to 4, 2026, the World Sambo Championships for cadets, youth and juniors are being held in Thessaloniki, Greece. The major international competition has brought together 713 athletes from 40 countries. Representing Kazakhstan at the championship was Zhansanat Kuandykuly Kabdrakimov, a third-year student of the Faculty of Engineering Technologies at the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University.
Competing in combat sambo in the up to 79 kg weight category, Zhansanat took second place and became a silver medalist of the World Championships. This achievement is the result of hard work, perseverance, strong discipline and dedication to sport. By competing successfully on the international stage, Zhansanat proudly represented Kazakhstan and brought great recognition to the University.
This is not Zhansanat’s first major achievement in 2026. In January, he won first place and a gold medal in the up to 79 kg category at the Almaty City Championship in combat and sport sambo.
In March–April, at the Republic of Kazakhstan Youth Sambo Championship held in Aktau, he once again took first place in combat sambo in the up to 79 kg category and became the Champion of Kazakhstan.
The young athlete is also actively involved in the social life of the University. Zhansanat serves as Chairman of KazNARU’s “Zhas Qorqan” Youth Public Order Unit.
This remarkable result by our student, who successfully combines education and sport, is a source of great pride for the University. The achievements of young athletes who represent Kazakhstan with honor at international competitions are especially valuable to the entire university community.
We wish Zhansanat continued success in future competitions! May he proudly raise the flag of Kazakhstan on the international stage many more times and reach new sporting heights!
