Abai’s Legacy and the Development of a Holistic Individual
On October 20, 2026, Madina Seydaliyeva, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities of the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University, conducted an educational event for second-year students titled “Abai’s Legacy and the Development of a Holistic Individual.”
The main purpose of the event was to promote the spiritual legacy of Abai Kunanbaiuly, foster students’ moral qualities, and connect the great thinker’s views on the ideal individual with contemporary life.
During the event, the participants discussed the educational ideas presented in Abai’s Words of Edification, as well as such values as conscience, justice, diligence, the pursuit of knowledge, and compassion. The students explored the meaning of the “Tolyq Adam” (“Holistic Individual”) concept and shared their views on the role of harmony among intellect, will, and heart in personal development.
The participants also reflected on the relevance of Abai’s teachings to today’s youth, the importance of developing positive personal qualities, and the need to recognize one’s responsibility to society.
The event aimed to enrich the students’ spiritual outlook, strengthen their respect for national values, and deepen their understanding of Abai’s literary and philosophical legacy.
