KazNARU Hosts the “National Literacy Dictation” to Promote State Language Proficiency

On November 7, 2025, the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University (KazNARU) hosted the “National Literacy Dictation” organized under the initiative of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The event aimed to strengthen proficiency in the state language, promote national identity, and foster a culture of responsible and literate communication.

The ceremony was officially opened by Gulmira Alpysbayeva, Director of the Academic Affairs Department, who highlighted the importance of language as the spiritual foundation of the nation and encouraged participants to value their native language, write correctly, and speak culturally.

The initiative engaged 450 participants, including 150 faculty and staff members, 150 students studying in Kazakh, and 150 students studying in other languages. The dictation was conducted in two tracks:

  • Native Kazakh speakers wrote a text from Ahmet Baitursynuly’s 1913 publication “Oku Zhaiy” (123 words).

  • Kazakh as a second language learners wrote a text titled “Fatherland” (98 words).

The dictation not only tested participants’ literacy but also reinforced love for the native language and civic responsibility, demonstrating the university’s role in knowledge exchange, social impact, and the development of linguistic culture among youth.

Such initiatives contribute to strengthening the status of the state language in society, enhancing students’ educational outcomes, and promoting governance in academic and cultural activities.

Notably, the “National Dictation” project was launched on September 5, 2025, in honor of Ahmet Baitursynuly’s birthday and the Day of Languages of the People of Kazakhstan, jointly by the Ministry and the International “Qazaq Tili” Society.
