GUEST LECTURE ON “CARBONIZATION OF KAZAKHSTAN’S PASTURES” HELD FOR THE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS “LAND MANAGEMENT” AND “CADASTRE”
On November 28, 2025, as part of a series of guest lectures for students of the Department of “Land Resources and Cadastre,” a guest lecture was organized and conducted by the Head of the Department, Assistant Professor E.A. Mursalimova. The invited speaker was Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences, and expert on sustainable pasture management for the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) project — Bakhtiyar Sadyk.
Students were introduced to new approaches to pasture carbonization within the FAO project “Agroforestry for Climate Resilience and Restoration of Pasture Lands in Kazakhstan,” implemented by the Association of Environmental Organizations of Kazakhstan in the Aktobe and Almaty regions.
A lecture on the topic “Carbonization of Kazakhstan’s Pastures as a Method of Land Management” was delivered to 4th-year students of the “Land Management” and “Cadastre” educational programs by Professor B. Sadyk.
Professor Sadyk provided information on the experience of the Kazakh Research Institute of Animal Husbandry and Feed Production regarding methods aimed at restoring vegetation cover, improving soil structure, and increasing organic carbon stocks in Kazakhstan’s pastures.
The presentation contained comprehensive information on methods for improving soil structure, increasing organic matter content, stimulating root growth and perennial grasses, reducing CO₂ emissions, and enhancing carbon sequestration by vegetation and soil.
Students asked questions related to the restoration of degraded lands, increasing grass biodiversity, reducing erosion, and more.
Professor Sadyk shared practical approaches to improving grass growth, enhancing soil organism activity, and increasing organic matter accumulation.
