Project “ATAMEKEN – NATIVE LAND”
In the context of globalization, there are many ways to educate young people in patriotism. Only by learning about the monuments and historical artifacts of their native region and understanding their significance can young people develop respect for the history of their homeland. A deep affection for one’s homeland, parents, and nation, when transformed into patriotism, reflects a high spiritual level. Preserving and passing down the history and lineage of the country from generation to generation is one of the primary responsibilities of the older generation.
In this direction, the professors of the Department of General Education at KazNAIRU, teaching the course “History of Kazakhstan”, annually promote the traditional first-year student project “Native Land”, within which the competition “Atameken – Native Land” is held.
Project Goals:
-
To increase students’ interest in the history, nature, and cultural heritage of their native land.
-
To promote national values and strengthen patriotic feelings.
-
To study and preserve local historical sites and natural landmarks.
-
To develop socially active and responsible citizens.
Project Tasks:
-
Organize research work on the history of the native land.
-
Conduct meetings with local cultural figures and labor veterans.
-
Create creative works about the native land (video clips).
Main Focus of the Project:
Studying the history of the native land (ancient monuments, history of local heroes, names of settlements), visiting museums and historical sites, and collecting information about notable locals under the section “Figures of the Native Land”.
According to the project conditions, students were required to produce a video about their native region. The competition was held in two rounds. In the first round, a jury composed of faculty members selected the best video submissions received by November 30, 2025. Over 200 students participated in the first round. In the second round, held on December 1–2, 2025, 18 selected videos were distributed via social media. Winners were determined by the highest number of likes and comments. Students who took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place received special diplomas and incentive prizes. The best participants were also awarded certificates.
