KazNARU STRENGTHENS STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP WITH FRANCE

On December 17, 2025, an official meeting took place at the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University with the participation of the French Consul General in Almaty, Mr. Maxime Gehringer, and Technical Expert for Cooperation in the Field of Higher Education, Ms. Agnes Bousset. During the visit, the parties discussed the current state and future trajectories of academic and scientific cooperation.

The main focus was on the integration of educational programs and the expansion of KazNARU’s partnership with leading French universities in relevant fields. Meeting participants discussed in detail cooperation in education, fundamental scientific research, and the active involvement of the private sector in the development of the agro-industrial complex (AIC).

Special attention was given to promising areas of strategic importance for both countries:

  • Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology: implementation of innovative diagnostic and preventive methods.

  • Food Industry and Culinary Arts: exchange of production and processing technologies.

A separate agenda item focused on the prospects of organizing an International Summer School, to which leading French scientists and professors are invited. This project will serve as a platform for intensive knowledge exchange, conducting masterclasses on innovative agrotechnologies, and strengthening direct academic contacts between young researchers from both countries.

Mr. Maxime Gehringer also highlighted the opportunities of the “Abay-Vern” program, which provides scholarships for KazNARU students. Discussions also covered organizing industrial internships at French enterprises and creating dual-degree programs, allowing graduates to receive internationally recognized diplomas.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Vice-Rector for International Relations Rafis Abazov expressed gratitude to the French side for the constructive dialogue, noting:

“Cooperation between KazNARU and French institutions opens a new chapter in training world-class personnel. Integrating French experience into Kazakhstan’s agricultural science will not only strengthen bilateral relations but also create a solid foundation for innovative breakthroughs in the AIC sector. We see tremendous potential in joint projects that will bring practical benefits to the economies of our countries.”
