WORKSHOP ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF DOUBLE DEGREE PROGRAMMES HELD AT KazNARU

On 19–20 February 2026, a workshop titled “Development of Double Degree Programmes” was held at KAZNARU. The event was aimed at strengthening international cooperation, improving the quality of academic training, and enhancing the university’s competitiveness.
The workshop brought together faculty deans, members of academic committees, heads of departments, and directors of educational programmes.
Key Objectives of the Workshop:
  • To develop a shared understanding of the academic model of double degree programmes;
  • To align educational standards and curricula with international partner universities;
  • To design joint educational programmes;
  • To identify academic risks and mechanisms for their mitigation;
  • To develop institutional frameworks for the implementation of double degree programmes.
During the discussions, participants reviewed international best practices, various programme models (2+2, 1+1, 3+1), credit transfer issues, academic mobility, and regulatory support mechanisms.
On the second day, Nadezhda Trubova, representative of the British Council, delivered a presentation on the role of credit-based systems in international partnerships.

  • Saule Baktymbet – Director of the Academic Affairs Department (double degree programmes as a tool of internationalization);
  • Rafis Abazov – Vice-Rector for International Relations (strategic importance of double degree programmes);
  • Meiram Arystanov – Dean of the Faculty of Water Resources and IT Technologies (specifics of programme development in water resources);
  • Asylbek Musoev – Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Zooengineering (experience in implementing programmes within international cooperation);
  • Nadezhda Trubova – Head of Education Programmes, British Council (role of credit technologies in international partnerships);
  • Zhanar Kusainova – Head of the Curriculum Development Office (development of curricula and credit allocation);
  • Laura Umarova – Head of the Registrar’s Office (specifics of academic scheduling).
As a result of the workshop, practical recommendations were developed to improve the mechanisms for designing and implementing double degree programmes, harmonizing curricula, and expanding international collaboration.
The event marked an important step toward strengthening internationalization and enhancing the quality of educational activities at the university.
