Meeting with the Association of Business Incubators and Accelerators of the Republic of Kazakhstan and KazNARU
On March 6, 2026, a working meeting was held in a hybrid format with representatives of universities, innovation infrastructure organizations, and members of the Association of Business Incubators and Accelerators of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The meeting focused on the development of university entrepreneurship, strengthening the startup ecosystem, and the commercialization of scientific research results.
During the meeting, representatives of Turan University presented the results of their work within the framework of the international project MUNIS (Modernization of Uzbekistan National Innovation System) implemented with the support of the World Bank. The project aims to develop an effective innovation ecosystem that provides a full cycle for technological project development—from scientific research and prototype development to attracting investment and entering industrial markets.
Special attention was given to the activities of the MUNIS DeepTech Accelerator, which conducts technological and market validation of projects, supports startups in progressing through technology readiness stages (TRL → CRL), and prepares teams for attracting investments. As part of the accelerator program, a strategic analysis of 240 innovative enterprises that had received grant funding was conducted. As a result, 40 of the most promising DeepTech startups were selected and recommended for preparation for the next investment round.
Participants were also introduced to Turan University’s international cooperation initiatives. In particular, together with Socratus Startup Studio (Mongolia), a business incubation program was implemented, providing support to 39 startups, including university-based projects.
In addition, plans for modernization of technology parks within the TechParks Reload project were discussed. The initiative is aimed at developing technological entrepreneurship infrastructure, strengthening technology transfer mechanisms, and expanding cooperation between universities, research organizations, and industry.
During the discussion, participants highlighted several challenges, including the insufficient level of entrepreneurial competencies among faculty members and students, limited involvement in innovation projects, and the need to further develop mechanisms for the commercialization of research results.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed their interest in continuing cooperation, exchanging best practices, and jointly implementing programs to support startups, develop university accelerators, and strengthen the innovation ecosystem of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
