The Scientific and Educational Laboratory “Poultry Diseases” was established on the basis of scientific projects of the Department of Biological Safety, implemented within the framework of grant funding provided by the Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
It was also noted that a key role in establishing the laboratory was played by Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, Professor of the Department of Biological Safety Nurlan Nuroldinovich Akhmetsadykov and Associate Professor, Head of Department Zhanat Mukhametkaliyevna Batanova, who acted as the main initiators of the project.
The program included official speeches, a symbolic opening ceremony, and a presentation of the laboratory’s research areas. Guests were also introduced to the laboratory’s material and technical base as well as the research team.
The new laboratory will serve as a center for comprehensive research on infectious poultry diseases, including avian influenza, Newcastle disease, infectious bronchitis, infectious bursal disease (Gumboro), and other socially significant poultry diseases.
Its activities will include the implementation and application of modern diagnostic methods such as polymerase chain reaction (PCR), serological studies, and cell biotechnology techniques. Plans also include molecular genetic analysis of circulating strains, monitoring of the epizootic situation, and evaluation of the effectiveness of preventive and vaccination programs.
Significance for Education and Science
The laboratory will become an important educational platform for master’s and PhD students, providing practice-oriented training and opportunities to participate in scientific projects.
Its activities are also aimed at developing international scientific cooperation and introducing advanced technologies into veterinary practice.
The opening of the laboratory enhances the university’s scientific potential and contributes to ensuring epizootic well-being and food security of the country.
