Earthquake Drill: Preparedness Begins with Each of Us

On May 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., an earthquake drill was conducted at the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University to improve the preparedness of staff and students for emergency response during an earthquake.

According to the Department of Emergency Situations, the citywide emergency notification system was activated during the drill through siren and voice alarm systems, interruption of television and radio broadcasting, as well as notifications sent via mobile applications.

The main purpose of the drill was to practice notification procedures, evacuation measures, and safe behavior rules in the event of seismic danger. Such exercises help people remain calm, act in an organized manner, and minimize possible risks during emergency situations.

Students of groups VHM-25-10, VHM-25-11, and VHM-25-12 actively participated in the training together with their curators. During the event, students were introduced to evacuation procedures, emergency response actions, and personal safety measures.

The briefing on earthquake safety rules was conducted by S.B. Zulpibekova, Head of the Academic Department of the TIIAME branch at KazNARU, and Zh.Z. Zhakupova, curator of group VHM-25-10. During the briefing, students were reminded to remain calm, follow the instructions of responsible persons, stay away from windows and heavy objects, and evacuate the building in an orderly manner using designated evacuation routes.

Seismic safety is everyone’s responsibility. Regular drills help develop a culture of safety and readiness for prompt action in emergency situations.

Take care of yourselves and your loved ones!
