KazNARU HOSTS INFORMATION AND AWARENESS EVENT TO IMPROVE LEGAL LITERACY AMONG YOUTH

 

Kazakh National Agrarian Research University (KazNARU) recently held an information and awareness event titled “Issues of Combating and Preventing Drug Trafficking”, aimed at improving legal literacy among youth and fostering a responsible attitude toward personal and public safety.

The meeting was moderated by Maksat Mukatayuly Imanbekov, leading specialist in social and legal work at the Youth Affairs Department. In his opening remarks, he emphasized that the primary goal of the event was to prevent the spread of drug addiction among young people and to raise students’ awareness of the consequences of legal violations related to the illegal circulation and use of narcotic substances. He also highlighted the importance of preventive work among students within the framework of the “Law and Order” ideology.

During the event, participants were provided with information about the Comprehensive Plan for Combating Drug Addiction and Drug Trafficking in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2026–2028, approved by the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan on December 19, 2025, Resolution No. 1117.

One of the speakers, Rashid Shakhmuratuly Kabzhanov, a representative of the public foundation “Omir Tanda”, delivered an interactive lecture detailing the consequences of drug addiction, including medical, social, and legal effects of substance use.

The next speaker, Police Lieutenant Colonel Dauren Askaruly Kobeev, Senior Officer for Special Cases at the Anti-Narcotics Department of Almaty Police, explained administrative and criminal liability for the use and distribution of narcotic substances. He also outlined the proper procedure for reporting violations, coercion, or illegal drug advertising to law enforcement agencies. Participants had the opportunity to ask questions and receive clarifications.

Nazerke Beksseitkyzy Kuzen, Student Ombudsman of the Youth Affairs Department, encouraged students to take responsibility for their environment, avoid negative influences, maintain their health, and respect both their own and others’ personal boundaries. She also reminded participants of the opportunity to join the nationwide “Qurmet” social media campaign promoting a culture of mutual respect.

Concluding the event, Ashirali Zhusupovich Smanov, Head of the Youth Affairs Department, stressed the importance of adherence to the laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan and personal civic responsibility among students, including international students. He emphasized that healthy youth are a strategic resource and the future of the country.

KazNARU will continue to organize initiatives aimed at developing legal awareness, promoting healthy lifestyle values, and ensuring a safe educational environment for students.
