Demo Day Workshop How to present your Startup: From Idea to Impact

On April 25, 2025, Kazakh National Agrarian Research University (KazNARU), Institute of Green and Sustainable Development held Demo Day within the framework of Hult Prize KazNARU. The workshop was attended by students of Engineering Technologies faculty of KazNARU, MUIT, KBTU.
Demo Day is the culmination of weeks, months or even years of hard work of startup founders and their teams. Demo day Hult Prize is an annual competition of ideas aimed at solving pressing social problems such as food security, access to water, energy and education. Named in honor of Bertil Hult, the prize is awarded to college students and has been called the “Nobel Prize for Students.” It's more than just a presentation; it's a strategic opportunity with multifaceted implications:
- Investor Magnetism. Demo Day acts as a powerful magnet for investors - business angels, venture capitalists and corporate funds. These stakeholders attend Demo Day events, actively seeking the next big thing. Startups have a limited time to grab their attention, generate interest and secure funding.
This Demo day allowed to help students to form their business ideas, also were revealed questions concerning the construction of business model, MVP prototype, financial part and marketing analysis, from the invited guests were: Hult Prize Coordinator in Kazakhstan - Mr. Nelson Izah, Mr. Olabode Ebiniyi (Africa) - expert on startup projects KBTU, coordinator of Technowomen program in KBTU - Ms. Balzhan Shayakhmetova. There were also students from MUIT and KBTU.
Students actively participated and asked questions. Also representatives of startup project Comfortable Ride and Eco Pallet briefly shared their project idea and according to the sample presentation, presented their business ideas and received feedback from the jury.
Mr. Nelson Izah shared the main points of the event, welcomed the guys and noted the importance of organizing and participating in this event. He highlighted 3 important areas:
1) What is Hult Prize, why is it important to participate;
2) How important it is to create your first startup;
3) What are the advantages and opportunities in the future.
Ms. Balzhan Shayakhmetova answered all the questions of the participants, spoke about her experience and the program for girls - entrepreneurs Technowomen, where there are opportunities to win prizes and for girls who have their own startup projects.
Ms. Maiya Suyunchaliyeva (Leading Specialist of the Institute of Green and Sustainable Development and Director of the Campus Board Hult Prize KazNARU) also welcomed the guests and students, noted the importance of this meeting, answered all the questions.
Also at the end of the Demo Day prizes and certificates were awarded.
The event was organized by the Institute of Green and Sustainable Development with the aim of developing startup areas on the basis of the university and participation in international rankings.
