SDG Impact Forum 2025

On October 22, 2025, the Kazakh National Agrarian Researсh University (KazNARU) and the Institute for Green and Sustainable Development attended the SDG Impact Forum 2025 in Almaty. This forum became an important platform for discussing sustainable development goals, where representatives of education, business, international organizations, and city administration came together to find joint solutions to the pressing challenges of today. Students, experts, sustainable development practitioners, and others participated in the forum in Almaty.

The forum opened with welcoming speeches by key speakers: Rector

Almau Asylbek Kozhakhmetov, Head of the UN Information Office in Kazakhstan Vlastimil Samek, representative of the Halyk Foundation, Director of Research and Innovation at SDG Alliance Vadim Tsurikov.

The first panel session set the tone for the entire forum by raising an important question: “Sustainability: a new trend or a new norm?” Experts from KPMG, Freedom Holding Corp, ESG Management School, and the Eco-Fund shared their practices and experiences in integrating ESG principles and a responsible approach to business.

The second session, “Urban Experiments in Achieving Sustainable Development,” focused on urbanism and the transformation of cities. Representatives from Almau, UNDP, the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, the Almaty City Development Center, and the mayor's office discussed pilot projects, sustainable mobility, and the importance of cross-sectoral cooperation in creating a comfortable urban environment.

Particular attention was paid to education and the role of universities in the development of the SDG agenda.

The third session, “Education with Impact: How to Shape Generations that Change Society,” brought together leaders of educational and civic initiatives. Speakers talked about the need to foster critical thinking, empathy, and responsibility for the future among young people.
