“Bridges of Friendship: From Kazakhstan to Türkiye” — Farewell Evening in Honor of Mr. Ayhan Korkmaz, Education Attaché of the Consulate General of the Republic of Türkiye in Almaty

On January 15, 2026, a farewell evening was held at Wageningen Auditorium 1 in honor of Mr. Ayhan Korkmaz, Education Attaché of the Consulate General of the Republic of Türkiye in Almaty. The event was organized under the symbolic theme “Bridges of Friendship: From Kazakhstan to Türkiye,” reflecting many years of fruitful cooperation and the strengthening of cultural and educational ties between the two countries.

The evening brought together members of the university administration, faculty, students, and distinguished guests. The event opened with welcoming remarks by the Vice-Rector for International Relations, creating an atmosphere of friendship and mutual respect.

Welcoming remarks were delivered by Rafis Abazov, Vice-Rector for International Relations of KazNARU, who highlighted Mr. Ayhan Korkmaz’s significant contribution to the development of international cooperation, support for educational initiatives, and the strengthening of cultural ties between Kazakhstan and Türkiye. In his keynote address, the Education Attaché shared warm reflections on his time in Kazakhstan and emphasized the importance of academic and humanitarian partnership between the two countries.

A special place in the program was given to a cultural dedication — a traditional Kazakh performance presented as a symbol of gratitude and respect. As part of the ceremony, Mr. Ayhan was presented with a commemorative certificate, and poems were recited in the Turkish language.

One of the most touching moments of the evening was the farewell speeches delivered by the Turkish language teacher and students, as well as the symbolic “Passing of the Tea” ceremony, which highlighted continuity, friendship, and the continuation of cooperation.

The event concluded with informal networking over a buffet featuring traditional Kazakh and Turkish treats, followed by a group photo to commemorate the occasion.

The farewell evening became a vivid confirmation of the strong friendship between Kazakhstan and Türkiye and left warm and lasting memories for all participants.
