INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL – 2026: “Smart Forestry and Land Resources in the Context of Climate Change

     On June 1, 2026, the International Summer School – 2026 entitled “Smart Forestry and Land Resources under Climate Change Conditions” officially commenced its activities. The Summer School is led by Sabit Baizakov, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Economic Sciences, and Professor. The event is moderated by Dani Nurgissayevna Sarsekova, Dean of the Faculty of Forestry and Land Resources, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, and Professor.
The successful implementation of the Summer School program is supported by experienced faculty members and specialists. The facilitators of the program are Gulshat Tursynaliyevna Satybaldiyeva, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Landscape Design and Greening, and Madina Askatovna Albossynova, Assistant and Technical Coordinator of the Department of Land Resources and Cadastre.
    The main objective of the program is to discuss modern approaches to the effective management of forest and land resources under climate change conditions, promote international knowledge exchange, and enhance the professional competencies of participants.
    During the first week of the Summer School, Professor Zafer Olmez, Doctor of Technical Sciences from the Faculty of Forestry at Artvin Çoruh University (Türkiye), delivered a series of lectures on sustainable forest resource management, the impacts of climate change on forest ecosystems, and adaptation strategies.
    Additional lectures were delivered by Dani Nurgissayevna Sarsekova, Dean of the Faculty of Forestry and Land Resources; Elmira Askarovna Mursalimova, Candidate of Biological Sciences and Associate Professor of the Department of Land Resources and Cadastre; and Ardak Zhantketayevna Kozhabekova, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences and Senior Lecturer of the Department of Landscape Design and Greening, in an offline format. Sara Orazbekovna Kitaybekova, PhD and Senior Lecturer at S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University, conducted her lectures online.
     As part of the practical training program, participants visited the Main Botanical Garden of Almaty, where they became acquainted with rare species of trees and shrubs. During the educational excursion, discussions focused on plant biodiversity, its ecological significance, and conservation issues.
     The participants also undertook a scientific and educational field trip to the Butakty Gorge, located within the Medeu branch of the Ile-Alatau State National Nature Park, where they explored the characteristics of natural ecosystems and the region’s forest resources.
The lectures and practical sessions conducted within the framework of the International Summer School contribute to deepening participants’ professional knowledge, broadening their scientific perspectives, and promoting the adoption of international best practices.
